Basic Lean Manufacturing Strategies

Using a pragmatic lean manufacturing approach Libra engaged with the manufacturing team at all levels. The implementation of key cultural changes allowed the delivery of 25% improvement in OEE, a reduction of 20% in Waste and 19% in downtime.

Food Range Introduction

Libra worked alongside the in house team to introduce “Food to Go” across the 350 UK Wilkinson stores. Libra designed and managed the implementation process including asset purchasing, staff training and range profit management.

Libra worked alongside the team at the Mack Multiples Division of Fresca Group. The project allowed the delivery of “Lean” management processes across the business significantly reducing headcount whilst improving quality.

Front Line Management Academy

Development and delivery of a management academy for the Glenmorangie bottling plant to support the drive for industry leading quality, consistency and productivity.

Working alongside the local management team, operators and Glenmorangie exec, Libra have designed and developed a suite of line management training materials which will be delivered over the coming months. A train the trainer approach is being deployed, with local line management taking an active role in the development and deployment of training materials that will be rolled out across the business. These materials are being delivered in both a classroom and on-the-job environment where the theory will be put into practice.

The academy is being developed to match the industry leading facilities in Livingstone and will be supported through 2013 by the Libra team and appropriate systems and process developments to underpin the changes made.

Libra worked with the developing incoming Accountable Officer for the Fareham & Gosport and South East Hampshire CCG cluster to develop governance, business process and organisation structures. This work directly contributed to the submission for CCG authorisation by the 2 commissioning groups

Working alongside state funded agencies, Libra have worked with around 20 SME & family owned business in Ireland developing product costing templates, training and support to managers.

Comprising workshops, site visits and remote support, Libra have helped businesses in the scheme to become more cost aware, drive lean programmes and provided mentoring support to business owners and leaders

Created a structure for FM&T that would support a pan-BBC technology portfolio aligning content and on-demand strategies. The scope included developing and delivering solutions to help the BBC drive Digital Britain, using technology to achieve its transformation and on-demand strategies and driving cost savings through centralisation of technology, its procurement and application to simplify business processes

Created a bespoke residential training programme focused on motivating and leading teams to increased levels of performance and productivity. Central to the outputs were the ability to communicate their vision more effectively, appealing to the different motivations and preferences of individual members of their team and how to bind the team together in pursuit of the bank’s goals.

Product sales rose; chronic sickness and absenteeism fell; managers stopped asking for more resources and managers became local advocates for the change programme.

Global Supply Chain Realignment

Libra worked with manager at WIBDECO and Geest to realign activities in ripening, purchasing, transport and shipping from the wet indies through to the retailers RDC’s.

This resulted in a cost saving equivalent to 9% of group turnover and established the business as the primary fairtrade banana supplier to J Sainsbury’s.
