Mayborn Group Limited are an international baby goods manufacturing company with its Group’s Global Headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. A global company was founded 60years ago when it began with a child’s cup with a weighted base so it didn’t tip over. Today the Tommee Tippee brand is renowned around the world for high-quality innovative products with offices in North America, Australia, France Hong Kong and China plus manufacturing facilities are based in Tangier, Morocco, Guang Dong, China and Mansfield.
The business’ ambition is to be the World’s Most Loved Baby Company and as part of fulfilling this ambition, Mayborn is focused on developing and retaining its key talent critical to the business’ success.
As a successful brand in the baby market and a brand synonymous with innovation, the company has grown quickly into the mid-sized business it is today. It felt that there was an opportunity to do more to provide leaders with specific management development training to support their development as well as the business growth plans and support for the changes the business was facing. In particular, the focus was on supporting and improving decision-making, communication across teams, managing & leading teams and change management. For many, these were new skills and for others, they needed a consistent way of managing their teams at work.
We were engaged to create and deliver a bespoke 6-month rolling programme to train 70 managers across the UK, US, Australia, Hong Kong and Europe. The managers were a mix of established leaders and those new to managing a team.
The core topics covered were;
- Self-Awareness
- Managing Your Team
- Team Effectiveness
- Effective Leadership
- Change Management
- Project Management
The programme workshops were held face-to-face and virtually and the programme consisted of pre-work for each workshop and impact measurement at the end of the course. Each monthly 3-hour workshop was followed by a 1-hour virtual Impact Session to further embed learning. Libra Europe worked collaboratively with Mayborn to address the particular issues faced and to start a cultural change within the organisation.
There has been a significant impact on the managers that took part in the programme such as;
- Improved knowledge of the best practices for managing teams
- Reduction in team dysfunction
- Improvement in communications
- Improved collaboration and ways of working
- Increase in managers holding themselves and others accountable
Mayborn has seen increases in confidence and focus on trying new ways of working, challenging the status quo and taking responsibility for working differently with their team and peer group. Managers have come together as a community to support and share better practices to improve performance.
